About the Course

This class is a combination of Tai Chi and Qigong, ancient Chinese exercises, and healing techniques.

Although Tai Chi and Qigong share many characteristics, they are two different practices. But both incorporate strength and flexibility with breathing exercises.

Qigong spelled as qi gong, or chi kung means

Qi = vital energy

gong = cultivation

Therefore, Qigong is sometimes translated as "vital energy cultivation."

Qigong is a powerful health system used to reduce stress and anxiety, promote vitality, improve medical conditions, improve and prolong quality of life, has rejuvenating effects, is believed to increase longevity, and has been practiced for centuries.

Qigong is easy to learn and fun to do. The movements are different and have a very specific effect on the body and mind. Qigong increases the supply and flow of energy throughout the body. Many movements focus on gently opening and stretching the joints and muscles of the body, releasing tension that has often been there for years.

By increasing blood and energy flow, they help fully nourish all parts of the body.

There are many forms of Qigong that are practiced all over the world. In this class the Taoist style "Turtle Qigong" or Water Qigong is taught.

Turtle Qigong opens the joints of the body such as the neck, shoulders, elbows, wrists, hips, knees, and ankles.

This type of exercise is done with deep breathing to release stagnation, emotions and frustrations that we accumulate in the joints.

In this class, it is also taught Wudang Mountain Tai Chi, which is related to the eight forces: sky, lake, fire, thunder, wind, water, mountain and earth.

Tai Chi is low-impact and places minimal stress on muscles and joints, making it generally safe for all ages and fitness levels. Reduce stress, anxiety and depression, improve mood and promote joy and serenity through smooth and flowing movements.

Tai Chi practice will increase energy and stamina, improve flexibility and balance, reduce the risk of falls, and improve agility, muscle strength, and definition.
