Why should we practice Qigong barefoot?

Today I will share with you the ancient tradition of Qigong practice without shoes.

When I started my internal martial arts practices (Qigong & Tai Chi) one of the things that caught my attention was that we had to take off our shoes.


One day without hesitation I decided to ask my Master the reason why we do that.

And then he answered:

"Because people have lost their contact with their true mother: "The Earth".

Since the man began to immerse himself in the modern world and began to wear shoes, he lost contact with the energy of the earth, his stress levels have increased and his immune system has become weak. So you're here to reconnect with your mother".

For the Chinese everything that surrounds this world has energy. They call it Qi and the earth has a very powerful and healing energy.


When we take off our shoes and connect with the earth, we activate some points that are located in the center of the soles of the feet called Yongquan and that is how when these points come into contact with the energy of the earth, we heal.


According to traditional Chinese medicine, these points should be massaged and connected with the earth because it restores our consciousness, calms our mind (overthinking), and calm the spirit.

The ancient Qigong masters tell us that the energy of the earth ascends through our spine through these energetic points called Yongquan.


That is the reason why we spend many hours in the horse stance. Take root like a tree to be strong in mind and spirit.

Horse stance: is the position where you just hold your body as if you're holy as if you're riding a horse while holding a big ball in front of you.


Benefits of the Qigong practice without shoes.


1. Synchronize your rhythms and help the body's rhythms to be harmonized with night and day.


2. Improves both sleep at night and the feeling of vitality and energy during the day.


3. When we walk on the earth, its free electrons are transferred to the interior of our bodies, and these are probably the most powerful antioxidants known and act as anti-inflammatories without side effects.

4. It totally relaxes you. Activation of the parasympathetic nervous system reduces anxiety symptoms, heart and respiratory rates, blood pressure, and the secretion of the stress hormones adrenaline and cortisol.

This is one of the many Qigong secrets that I shared with you today. Qigong is a practice that revitalizes and relaxes and you can feel how the energy begins to flow inside you.
