Winter Solstice, Make Space For Yourself!

Happy Winter Solstice Qi friends! It’s that time of year.

Today, December 21 we celebrate the Winter Solstice, with the shortest day and the longest night in the year. Winter solstice marks the beginning of our journey into the cold Yin of winter.

This is the time when the Yin energy is strongest. It is a time of rebirth, where the days after begin to slowly lighten as we move forward into the winter season.

For our friends in the southern half of the world, it is Summer Solstice, when Yang energy is strongest. In my native country Peru it is Summer.

Wherever you are in the world, it is good to remind yourself to go with the flow of these energies.

During this time of the year, the plants and animals turn inward and rest.

Mother Nature hints to us to do the same. Even though winter isn’t as inviting when it comes to doing activities outdoors, it’s still important to not become stagnant.

Qigong is a great option for “winter fitness.”

To my Sadana Center students make sure you keep practicing a Qigong routine to maintain your body, mind, and spirit healthy, and in balance. The Golden Tortoise and the Eighteen Palms of the Buddha are perfect for this time of the year. Those Qigong exercises stimulate bones and tendons and help us to release negative emotions.

And make sure you stay warm, that's important for your health and wellbeing.

This is a time of new beginnings for all of us. Releasing the old and embracing the new.

This is a time for optimism and looking forward. Last Saturday was our last Sound Bath Meditation.

Meditation is a great opportunity to hold space for ourselves, to stay balanced, and be recharged with great energy! In that meditation, we looked within ourselves and did a special ritual of Gratitude. Thank you so much to those that participated.
